Lejla is a movement fundraiser and DJC’s Associate Director of Development. She manages DJC’s foundation relations, annual and sustaining giving programs, and provides leadership for fund development operations. She’s passionate about the role fundraising can play in building power for grassroots movements.
Before joining DJC, Lejla supported arts & culture and social justice organizations including the Arab American National Museum, Kresge Arts in Detroit, and Muslim Anti-Racism Collaborative. She was a member of the 2023 Giving Project at the Transforming Power Fund and a 2020 Racial Equity Fellow with the Detroit Equity Action Lab.
Originally from Bosnia and Herzegovina (the former Yugoslavia), Lejla is based in metro-Detroit. She loves historic cemeteries and is studying world history at Wayne State University.
