Event

This Saturday September 29th, DJC’s Just Cities Innovation Lab is excited to host a Youth Design Summit for young people to design and create visions of healing, transformative spaces. The summit will be held at Teen Hype (1938 Franklin St. in Detroit) and will run from 10:15 am until 5:30 pm. Registration is open to youth aged 13-18, and is free to anyone who wants to participate. Co-sponsored by Teen Hype, 482Forward, and Designing Justice + Designing Spaces, the summit will feature workshops led by design professionals with forward thinking strategies for restorative justice spaces. Given that Wayne County has approved plans for a $533 million criminal justice complex, including a 160 bed youth detention facility, participants of the summit will imagine what could be designed as an alternative to the new jail.
