More charges dismissed against summer protesters, including Detroit Will Breathe co-founder

Detroit protesters recently had a major victory! “Eight more protesters, including Detroit Will Breathe co-founder Nakia Wallace, have had their charges dismissed Tuesday at the 36th District Court after the City of Detroit failed to provide relevant evidence. 

The eight defendants were among dozens of protesters who were hit with misdemeanors during the summer’s protests following the death of George Floyd. The individuals accounted for 15 charges including disorderly conduct, loitering, and pedestrian interfering with traffic, said Geoffrey Leonard with the Detroit Justice Center who represented Tuesday’s group — except one — through the Detroit Coordinated Defense Coalition.”
